Alright /r/EDH, it’s story time. I relayed this story last night at my LGS, so I figured I should share the love here, as well…
…A couple years back, me and 3 friends were discussing the ban list, and doing a night of ban-list free EDH. Proxies were allowed, everything was legal – let’s have some fun.
3 of us build extremely degenerate decks, and the 4th guy showed up with BUG-Control.dec – we were confused.
3 of us attempted to go for super-early wins, and they kept getting countered / disrupted by somebody at the table (usually him). He just sat there, and drew crap-tons of cards, ramped to obscene levels, never missed a land drop, and never missed an opportunity to stop other people from winning… and every card in his deck was a proxy, even his basics.
We’re all confused beyond all reason – What the hell is he doing? What’s his win-con? What the fuck is going on? WHY???
He EOTs a Cyclonic Rift, makes it go through, then starts his turn with everybody tapped out from trying to stop his c-rift.
As he starts his turn, he casually picks up basically every card in front of him, and removes the piece of paper from the sleeve revealing [[Cheatyface]]’s – every. single. card.
Every card in his deck was a Cheatyface with a slip of paper over it. He swings, and kills everybody.
That was easily the best game I’ve ever lost. We were more confused by how he’d gotten 100 Cheatyfaces on short order… turns out the moment we started talking about a ban-free night he started stock piling them.
TL;DR – When every card is legal, Cheatyface is the best card in EDH.
